Paju City Revokes Kim's Ambassador Role Following Accusations Related to Late Oh Yo-anna

(MHN Sports, Reporter Lee Jun) — Kim Ga-young, a weathercaster at MBC, is facing professional repercussions amid allegations of workplace bullying related to the late Oh Yo-anna, a former colleague who passed away last year.
On February 6, Paju City announced that Kim Ga-young had been removed from her role as a city ambassador, citing the controversy surrounding her alleged involvement in Oh Yo-anna’s workplace harassment. Kim had been appointed as a Paju City promotional ambassador in August 2023 and had appeared in various tourism-related videos.

Paju City Explains Decision
A city official told MHN Sports, "According to city regulations, an ambassador may be dismissed if there are circumstances that make it difficult for them to continue their duties."
The official further stated, "Although the investigation is still ongoing, we determined that the controversy had created challenges for her to continue representing the city. The purpose of appointing ambassadors is to promote a positive image and support city publicity efforts. Given the current situation, we felt it would be difficult for Kim Ga-young to fulfill that role."
The city also clarified that Kim’s ambassadorship was originally set to run until the end of July, but there were no remaining scheduled activities for the remainder of her term.
Kim Ga-young Steps Down from MBC Radio Program Amid Public Backlash
Kim Ga-young has also stepped down from her role on MBC Radio’s “Good Morning FM with Tei.” Following the bullying allegations, her continued presence on the show drew heavy criticism from listeners, leading to a flood of negative comments on social media.

Allegations of Workplace Bullying Linked to Oh Yo-anna’s Passing
The controversy began on January 27, when Oh Yo-anna’s suicide note was made public, revealing allegations of workplace harassment. Oh, who passed away in September 2023, was a weathercaster at MBC, like Kim Ga-young. Following the disclosure of her note, allegations surfaced suggesting that Oh had been subjected to workplace bullying.
MBC has since formed an investigative committee to look into the claims.

SBS Variety Show "Kick a Goal" Takes a Cautious Approach
Meanwhile, SBS’s variety show “Kick a Goal” (골때리는 그녀들), in which Kim Ga-young appears, is facing mounting calls for her removal. The production team has stated that they are waiting for the results of MBC’s internal investigation before making any decisions.
As the controversy unfolds, the industry and public await further developments regarding MBC’s findings and potential repercussions for Kim Ga-young.
